   Welcome to Astra Publishers.

   Astra Publishers is a small publishing company that specializes in stories about companion animals, especially Papillons. The Papillons of Astra serve as the role models for many of the stories.

   We currently publish three books featuring Papillons and other assorted companion animals. One is a classic dog mystery featuring a Papillon named Sky (a.k.a. Champion Wing's Red Sky at Morning, CDX). This mystery is set in Williamsburg and Richmond, Virginia and entitled Amorous Accident: A Dog's Eye View of Murder.

     Our second book, an illustrated collection of short stories about companion animals entitled Pawprints On My Heart, was a finalist for the Maxwell award for Best Dog Fiction of 2001.

   Our newest book is a love story of a life shared with six generations of Papillons over two decades. Entitled Paw Prints Through The Years, the book shares the author's adventures for the beginning steps of showing her first purebred Papillon to the elegance and prestige of the Westminster Kennel Club show as the dogs ease the hardships of dealing with an Alzheimer stricken parent, the routine bumps of life and career, and her own retirement. This latest novel has been nominated for several state and national awards including the Library of Virginia Literary Award for fiction.
